About this policy
SlateStead operates this website. This policy explains how we handle information when you visit, contact us or discuss a project. For privacy questions, email slatestead@gmail.com.
Information you provide
Our inquiry form asks for your name, email address and business name. You may also provide your website address and a message. We receive information you send in emails and subsequent project conversations. Please do not send passwords, payment-card details, medical records or other sensitive personal information through this website or inquiry form.
Technical information
Requests to the website and form service may generate technical records, such as IP addresses, browser information, requested pages, referring addresses, timestamps and error or security logs. These records help operate, troubleshoot and protect the services.
How we use information
We use information to respond to inquiries, understand project needs, manage business relationships and appropriate records, operate and secure our services, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. This site has no marketing-email signup, advertising pixels or advertising-tracking scripts. Fonts and visual assets are served with the site.
Optional website analytics
When you choose “Allow analytics,” we load Google Analytics, provided by Google, to understand aggregate site usage and performance, which pages are useful, and whether visitors reach our contact experience. It does not load or send analytics requests before you allow it or after you choose “No analytics.” Browsing and inquiries work without analytics.
Our custom events record contact and website-service interest, submission attempts, confirmed inquiry acceptance and errors, with only a general or website inquiry category. We do not intentionally send names, email addresses, business names, messages, entered website addresses or other form contents through these events. Page addresses exclude query strings and fragments; referring addresses are limited to the referring origin. Google also receives technical information, such as browser and device information, when analytics is allowed. Seehow Google uses information from sites that use its services.
We save your choice and its expiry time in this browser’s local storage under slatestead.analytics.v1 for up to 180 days. With permission, Google Analytics uses first-party _ga and _ga_…cookies to distinguish visits and sessions, configured to expire after 180 days without extending on each visit. Browser settings may shorten storage. If preference storage is unavailable, your choice applies to the current page and we ask again on another page.
Use “Analytics settings” in the footer to revisit your choice. Choosing “No analytics” stops subsequent collection for this site and removes its Google Analytics cookies without clearing your inquiry. It cannot recall data already sent or requests already in progress. Clearing browser storage also clears your saved choice. Analytics and its controls remain inactive when JavaScript is disabled.
Providers and disclosure
Formspree processes and stores inquiry submissions and delivers notifications to our monitored Gmail inbox. iWebFusion provides web hosting and server services; Google provides our email service. These providers process information needed for their services, including operational and security information, under their own terms and privacy practices.
We may disclose relevant information to providers supporting these purposes, where you ask us to, to meet legal requirements, or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety or the service and address fraud or abuse. We do not use website inquiries to build advertising audiences or enroll you in marketing subscriptions. Providers may process information outside your location. Their independent practices are described by Formspree, iWebFusion and Google. Links to other websites are governed by those sites' policies.
Retention and security
We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary to respond to inquiries, manage the relationship, maintain appropriate business records, secure and operate the service, or meet legal obligations. We review information when it is no longer needed and delete it where appropriate. Providers may independently retain operational records and backups under their own schedules; we do not control their exact retention periods.
We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information and service. No method of Internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and questions
You can browse without submitting an inquiry and leave optional fields blank. Email slatestead@gmail.com to ask about information you have shared, request a correction or deletion, or raise a privacy concern. We may need to verify the request and retain records required for legitimate business or legal reasons. We will respond as appropriate to the request and applicable requirements.
